Cities liveable and accessible, more public space, good charging infrastructure, safe and practical car parks. We are your sustainable mobility partner!
Q-Park Belgium recently installed its 600th EV charging point as part of its ambitions to promote sustainable mobility solutions. Q-Park has 42 parking facilities in Belgium including 10 ‘Mobility Hubs’ in Antwerp, Brussels and Hasselt, which will soon be fitted with new distinctive signage.
With its Sustainable Mobility Partnership programme, Q-Park is playing a significant role in Europe’s mobility transition. Q-Park Mobility Hubs are a crucial part of this: they offer solutions for better accessibility and enhanced liveability, greater sustainability and improved mobility equality in the city. Mobility Hubs are parking facilities which offer more than just car parking. Other services include EV charging, pre-booking as well as bicycle and car sharing concepts. Q-Park is especially committed to installing high-end EV charging points in these mobility hubs.
Q-Park installed its first four EV charging points in 2018. This number quickly grew to 276 in 2023 and by early 2025 to 600. Some parking facilities now offer more than 50 charging points, such as Brussels Zuidstation-Midi with more than 80, Antwerp Kooldok more than 70, and Antwerp Steendok more than 50.
Q-Park aims to not only increase the number of charging points in its parking facilities, but also to enhance the overall quality of the charging experience. Our charging points are equipped with the latest technology to charge quickly and efficiently, providing the best possible user experience. For example, most Q-Park EV charging points deliver 11 kW, which tops up your battery while you park.
“We are very proud to have added so many EV charging points in Belgium in just a few years,” says Philip de Brabanter, Managing Director Q-Park Belgium. “In recent years, we focused on making our mobility solutions more sustainable, and providing quality, EV charging points in our Mobility Hubs is a crucial part of this effort. At Q-Park, we are constantly investing in our infrastructure and further optimising our high-end, level 3, EV charging points. So you see, we’re preparing for the future as best we can. The capacity of our EV charging points is very important. We want EV charging to be quick and simple for our customers, which means that the infrastructure and quality of the EV charging points is paramount.”
This focus will continue throughout 2025. De Brabanter: “In 2025, we will continue adding EV charging points in our parking facilities according to demand. At Q-Park, we believe that cars are part of an economically viable, liveable and vibrant city. And we are happy to contribute to reducing car traffic without sacrificing accessibility to shops, schools and businesses.”
The transition from kerbside parking to purpose-built car parks not only frees up more public space above ground for greenery and culture, it also creates the necessary space and infrastructure for shared and sustainable mobility including shared bicycles, shared cars and charging points.
Expanding the number of EV charging points in our parking facilities has been challenging. Apart from the technical aspects and concerns about the availability of equipment and installation engineers, we must have an adequate power supply and manage this efficiently. In addition, Q-Park's charging points meet the highest safety standards and are maintained regularly to ensure reliable operation. Needless to say, all our car parks are designed to accommodate the weight of electric vehicles. De Brabanter: “We are committed to providing safe, sustainable and practical parking facilities.”
Q-Park continues to install EV charging points in its parking facilities in other European countries and to upgrade existing car parks to Mobility Hubs. In 2018, Q-Park had 534 EV charging points and has expanded this number to 6,854 at the end of 2024, a tenfold increase.
